Statue of Bayard (Marc De Bruyn)

Location: William Bruynincxpark, Stationsstraat.

This powerful stone Bayard Steed in the park symbolizes the vitality and optimism of the people of Dendermonde. The statue was carved directly out of a 3 m3 block of Belgian bluestone weighing around seven tonnes. Unusually, the sculptor depicted the Four Sons of Aymon beneath the front legs of the rearing stallion and not on his back.

The statue is the work of the sculptor Marc De Bruyn.
